Pupils in Year 6 enjoyed a Victorian Day to remember on Thursday 23rd April as History Off The Page brought their History learning to life with an interactive and engaging programme inspired by the era.
Beginning with a realistic Victorian classroom experience, the pupils learnt first hand about the strict discipline of the time as well as the use of fountain pens, ink wells and slate boards in lessons. The appreciated how lucky they are to be at school during the 21st Century!
Learning continued into the afternoon with a range of activities including an investigation into who had left their luggage at the station on the day of the Diamond Jubilee: a pickpocket and Lewis Carroll were amongst these individuals. Pupils were then shown a range of Victorian artefacts and photographs from the period and had the opportunity to play some games from the time. The children were fascinated throughout!
