St Michael’s recently celebrated the harvest season with joyful festivities and a generous collection of food and toiletry donations for a local foodbank.
Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils celebrated Harvest Festival with a special assembly featuring harvest-themed songs and poetry. Through lively performances of favourites including Cauliflowers Fluffy and Harvest Rock ’n’ Roll, the children explored the importance of generosity and compassion that lies at the heart of the harvest tradition.
Commenting on the celebrations, St Michael's Pre-Prep Music Teacher Ceri Crane said: "This year’s Harvest Festival was bursting with generosity, smiles and glorious singing! Year 1 delighted us with a lovely poem, while our scarecrows joined in the celebrations and everyone had fun with a ‘Guess the Vegetable’ challenge. Our wonderful St Michael’s community created an amazing display of Harvest donations and even the teachers got involved with enthusiastic actions. A joyful celebration all round!"

As part of the festivities, families were invited to donate food and toiletry items for Swanley and District Foodbank. The St Michael’s community responded with remarkable generosity, donating an impressive 487.2kg of essential items to support local individuals and families. The foodbank shared its thanks with the school, saying: "We collected donations from you that weighed a whopping 487.2kg! Thank you so much for your support. Our shelves are looking much healthier than they did!"
