St Michael’s Prep School’s U9A Team delivered an outstanding performance at the Sevenoaks School U9 Hockey Tournament on Thursday 8th October, securing first place after an unbeaten afternoon of hockey.

The team made a flying start in the competition with a convincing 3-0 win over Bromley High School in their opening match. They followed this with another strong display against Ashford School, earning a 1-0 win thanks to a well-taken goal from Lottie B.

Confidence continued to grow as the girls took on Sevenoaks Prep School in a closely contested encounter. Showing great determination and resilience, St Michael’s edged the match 1-0.

Their fourth game against Granville School proved to be one of the most challenging. Despite creating eight clear chances, the girls struggled to find the back of the net. However, their persistence paid off when Lottie B scored just before the final whistle, sealing a hard-fought 1-0 victory.

In their final fixture against Russell House School, St Michael’s applied sustained pressure and created a number of promising opportunities. Although they were unable to convert their chances, a solid defensive display ensured they completed the tournament unbeaten.

The team finished the afternoon with an impressive 22 points, securing the tournament title and demonstrating exceptional teamwork, determination and skill throughout.

Commenting on the team's success, their coach Joel Thomas said: “The girls were fantastic throughout the tournament. Their teamwork, commitment and positive attitude shone in every match. We are incredibly proud of their achievement.”
