U11s qualify for National IAPS Hockey Final

Pupils of St Michael's Prep School are preparing to compete in the National IAPS U11 Girls' Hockey Finals following their success at the regional tournament this month.

Competing on Friday 11th October at Haileybury School, St Michael's team began the event in impressive style, beating Colfe's School 9-0 in a 12 minute match.

St Michael's girls then beat Russell House School 3-0, Felsted School 1-0 and Channing School 6-0 to win their group convincingly.

In the Quarter-Final St Michael's beat St Cedd's School 4-0 and followed this with a 3-0 victory against Brentwood School in the Semi-Final. Kent College Canterbury were St Michael's opponents in the Final and the team finished on a high with a 2-0 victory to win the tournament and qualify for the National Finals.

Commenting on the team's success, St Michael's Coach, Ruth Bingham said: "The girls were superb all day, scoring an amazing 28 goals in 7 matches and conceding none! Congratulations to the whole squad for playing fast, skilful and exciting hockey."

The team will travel to Repton in November for the IAPS National Hockey Finals to attempt to retain St Michael's National U11 Girls' Hockey Champions title for the third year running!
