Prep Science

Science at St Michael’s Prep School is exciting and thriving. Our children rise to the challenge of being real scientists with our hands-on, practical approach to learning and scientific enquiry.

Our pupils regularly carry out investigations, developing skills in the safe handling of apparatus and living organisms. They learn how to process and analyse data, draw conclusions and evaluate their methods.

Our well-equipped and purpose-built Science Labs are child-friendly and give every pupil the experience of working like a scientist. Throughout the year, we make full use of the wide range of habitats available to us in our beautiful grounds. A variety of extra-curricular opportunities enhance classroom learning and further the children’s understanding of how science fits into the world around them.

Our young scientists can experience a broad range of carefully chosen extra-curricular activities including: CREST SuperStars, Kitchen Science Club, Nature Club, Science Week,  visits and trips as well as extension sessions for potential Scholars. Science events are selected to facilitate a broader understanding of science beyond the classroom and to stimulate life-long scientific interests.
