At St Michael's Prep School we take great pride in our cricket programme, offering a range of training and competitive opportunities for both boys and girls during the Trinity (summer) Term.
With a beautiful backdrop of the school, our main hardball pitch is located on the bottom field, providing the perfect setting for our cricketers to showcase their skills.
We have multiple softball wickets as well as both indoor and outdoor training nets with bowling machines. This equipment enables our players to fine-tune their batting and bowling skills under realistic conditions. We also hire Sevenoaks Vine's Orchard field to enhance our pupils’ overall cricketing experience.
A variety of hardball and softball opportunities are offered to all pupils as part of our inclusive ethos. Equally, our competitive fixture calendar provides ample chances for children of all abilities to enjoy exciting matches throughout the Trinity Term.
We offer cricket activities and additional coaching sessions after school, offering pupils expert guidance and training from familiar and experienced coaches. During the spring, we provide winter nets to keep our players engaged and help them refine their skills ahead of the summer season.
We build a solid foundation of cricket skills in our pupils from Year 1, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the sport as they progress through St Michael’s Prep. By introducing them to the basic techniques and rules of the game from an early age, we prepare them for competitive matches which begin in Year 3.
St Michael's Prep pupils are achieving highly in cricket. We currently have girls playing cricket at county level and our U11 girls’ team recently became IAPS Hardball Cricket Champions. Additionally, we have several boys and girls who play at club and district levels, supported by the quality coaching and training of their St Michael’s teachers.
