St Michael’s Prep School’s thriving hockey programme provides opportunities for girls and boys to develop their skills and passion for the sport.

Our floodlit, full-size astro turf pitch and experienced coaching staff create a nurturing environment where pupils can excel in hockey in all weather conditions.

Hockey opportunities are available for girls from September to December and for boys from February to April. Our competitive fixture calendar caters for pupils of all abilities, offering them opportunities to showcase their sporting skills, competitive spirit and teamwork.

In addition to our regular season, we provide hockey activities and coaching through our School of Sport coaching academy. These sessions enable pupils to develop their skills, receive specialist training and deepen their understanding of the sport.

We believe in introducing hockey from early age, beginning in Year 2. This develops a strong foundation of basic skills in our pupils, laying the groundwork for their future hockey journey.

Our commitment to excellence is evident in our pupils’ achievements. In 2023, our girls' U11 team won the IAPS National Hockey Championships, showcasing exceptional talent and teamwork. We are also proud of our former pupils’ success, with Old Michaelians currently representing England U18s and GB U21s.
