Netball

Netball is an important part of St Michael's Prep School's sporting tradition, providing girls from Year 3 to Year 8 the opportunity to participate in a dynamic and fun team sport.

St Michael's Prep offers comprehensive training programs and numerous opportunities for pupils to enhance their skills, compete in fixtures and tournaments and foster a love for netball.

We have three outdoor netball courts and a Sports Hall marked out for netball, meaning practice can continue in all weather.

Our dedicated coaching team, led by a Level 2 netball coach and supported by experienced sports teachers, bring years of netball knowledge and playing experience to the training sessions.

During the Lent (spring) Term, the school prioritises netball by providing skills and match training to all years. This ensures the pupils develop a strong foundation, enabling them to progress and refine their skills as they move through the school. We emphasise the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship and personal growth in an inclusive environment for all players.

For those who want to extend their skills and who are passionate about the game, we offer after-school activities.

Our netball teams participate in weekly fixtures against other local schools. Fixtures keep the pupils engaged beyond just practicing and training. We also attend tournaments hosted by other schools. St Michael’s proudly hosts its own netball tournament, where we welcome up to 24 schools. This event not only provides a platform for healthy competition, but also promotes community engagement and camaraderie among participating schools.

Our school has consistently excelled in netball, which is demonstrated in the annual IAPS competition and by impressive results at fixtures throughout the season. Last year, our team reached the annual IAPS Netball Finals.
